Virginia Gehshan’s advice featured in Sign & Digital Graphics magazine

Virginia Gehshan’s expert advice for developing large and successful wayfinding projects is outlined in Bill Schiffner’s article “Taking on the Great Outdoors” in
Sign & Digital Graphics magazine.

Virginia believes that the key to success begins with the overall process. She presents several methods that ensure the success of large projects, one being prototyping as a design solution, and describes how CGA designers utilized

Master plan for exterior signage and wayfinding at Monroe Community College

For more than 50 years, Monroe Community College has evolved to meet
the ever-changing needs of its students and community. Its growth has
triggered the need for exterior signage and wayfinding at its two upstate
New York campuses.

CGA, with Bergmann Associates, has developed a strategic master plan that addresses the orientation and signage needs of MCC. The goals are to make
the two campuses more accessible and user-friendly for visitors, support a
more pleasant experience for students and provide a manageable system for
phased implementation.

Students of the University of Pennsylvania freshman seminar course, “Writing on the City: Letterforms, Technology, and Philadelphia History” spent an afternoon at CGA’s studio. The students heard from CGA principal Virginia Gehshan, who spoke to the class on the professional practice of designing environmental typography for cities and towns and how designers can impact a city’s image.

The objective of the class is to better understand how the evolution of typographic forms in Philadelphia shape and reflect the aesthetic and cultural values of the city.
