In celebration of Black History Month, CGD proudly recognizes our client, the African American Museum of Bucks County.
CGD is developing an interpretive master plan and exhibit design for AAMBC. This project is part of a larger preservation project led by KMA, Pennoni, The Lighting Practice, and Voith & Mactavish Architects LLP.
For the last ten years, the AAMBC has operated as a mobile museum, sharing the untold stories and rich history of African Americans in Bucks County by traveling to schools, colleges, senior centers, faith-based groups, and other museums and corporations in the Bucks County area. Today, the Museum is embarking on its next milestone: becoming the only permanent brick-and-mortar African American Museum in Bucks County.
The museum will now be located at the site of the historic Boone Farm in Middletown Township. The farmhouse, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has historical ties to the Great Migration of the 20th century, during which 6 million African Americans moved from rural Southern states to Northern areas such as Pennsylvania in search of economic opportunity.
