The University of Pennsylvania’s Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology is home to a world-renowned collection of priceless artifacts. However, the historic building, though beautiful, is incredibly confusing with partial staircases, a mixture of public and private areas and non-accessible restrooms.
CG worked with the client to establish clear terminology and consistent, logically located directional signs. A new wayfinding map helps visitors understand the labyrinthian building. Sign messages and locations were tested with paper signs during design. The new signs also display and promote the ever-changing exhibits and can be updated by staff.
Notable: The system also needed to work within historic preservation guidelines.
