With its 25-year Green City, Clean Waters (GCCW) program, the city of Philadelphia is a national leader in implementing green infrastructure tools that reduce stormwater impacts and yield great community benefits. The Philadelphia Water Department is installing innovative tools all over the city that enhance the streetscape while reducing the polluting effects of stormwater runoff.
CG was tasked with developing an interpretive sign system illustrating the purpose and benefits of “green tools” such as porous paving, tree trenches and rain gardens, which are being implemented at a variety of neighborhood sites including schools, parks and ordinary residential blocks. CG’s Green City, Clean Waters interpretive signs are also being deployed in more rural areas of Philadelphia, where PWD is involved in stream and habitat restoration.
Notable: CG developed all the original illustrations and written text.
