University of Maryland, Baltimore County, a 500-acre suburban campus, needed a more distinctive point of entry. The new gateway and sign system, designed to complement and reflect the architectural vocabulary of the UMBC campus, enables the university to reinforce its identity as “an honors university in Maryland.” CG was hired to design the gateway and sign system to have unique architectural elements and help address vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle circulation.
