Ian leads and inspires design teams on a wide variety of complex projects ranging in scale and typology from dense urban spaces to open green parks and waterfronts. He has an affinity for the creative, an appropriate use of materials and a deep understanding of fabrication techniques and methods. He has developed and designed wayfinding systems and donor recognition programs for medical centers, colleges and universities, parks and civic spaces.
Most notably, Ian has successfully directed and managed multiple projects for Thomas Jefferson University and Hospital, visually transforming and branding their Center City Philadelphia campus and deploying that system to their other facilities in the region. Other projects of note include The American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, Boston Parks and Recreation, Main Line Health, University of Maryland Baltimore County, University of Texas at San Antonio, Temple University, Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and Penn’s new state-of-the-art hospital known as the Pavilion, the largest capital building project in Penn’s history.
Internationally, he has worked in Atturaif, the first capital city of Saudi Arabia and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The CG team developed a comprehensive identity, bilingual signage and interpretive system for this national living museum.
Ian leads the tech team at CG and is active in the profession, serving as the co-chair of the Philadelphia chapter of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design between 2014-2017. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Fairmont State College.
